This crumble has an interesting nutty topping.

Ingredients

For 4 servings…

For the crumble

20 gms            Nuts - mixed  - chopped         

15 gms            Oats         

30 gms            Sugar  - Demerara    

30 gms            Flour        

30 gms            Butter  - softened and diced     

For the filling

251 gms           Blackberries            

3                    Apples  - cooking - peeled, cored and chopped      

50 gms            Sugar  - Demerara    

Method

Heat an oven to 180°C.

To prepare the filling…

Mix the filling ingredients together.

To prepare the crumble…

Put the flour, butter and sugar in a bowl and rub them together with fingertips until the mixture has a breadcrumb-like consistency.  Stir in the oats and mixed nuts.

To assemble and cook the dish…

Put the filling into an oven-proof dish – spreading it evenly.  Sprinkle the crumble mixture evenly over the top.  Bake in the oven for 20 minutes.

Serve with clotted cream, crème fraîche, ice cream or custard.
